Design Bundles started out in 2015 but I do believe that it became most popular after 2017. It’s a digital market place which I could say competes with Creative Market and also with Etsy combining features from both marketplaces. Example: it has the clarity that Creative Market has as far it concerns the licenses (so artists are not obliged to do them themselves), it’s quite clear on what it sells (that’s digital you will never get a customer complaining that this was a touchable product) and it has the necessary structure that can support your case. So rest assure that if you hear complaints from the Designer Support Team this will be their last resort. They are just great in providing support protecting both designers and their own name. And this is just great.
Furthermore it has a great community behind its back. As a designer I so much enjoy the Facebook group where I can communicate and exchange opinions with fellow designers and the administrator itself without feeling I am persecuted because I state a different opinion. They have even created a group exclusively for pirate activity which hurts us all. And just the contact communication and feedback is a very well reason to join.
Is everything made up of gold? No, heavens no. I do understand its a marketplace which does its best but as far as pricing go it’s a no..no…The minimum price to sell a product is 4 dollars (Creative Market has it at 6) and with the discounts a designer can do (up to 50%) it comes down to 2 dollars. And it has no difference either a single product or a bundle.
Further promotions include the 1 dollar event which its good because its only for a day and really helps designers boosting their income and special bundles which are paid as commission rates to the designers who are selected, but with so many designers selling so massive bundles at discount prices, it’s only becoming harder and harder to be a genuine designer and able to keep up with that pace.
So where Design Bundles feels too close at the same time feels so apart, because they want both of both worlds, they want the communication with real people, genuine designers, but at the same time as any business (and I don’t blame them) they want massive sales…
This is our post number 1…to be continued…
